I really like this, its probably the kind of thing he would have done if he could. But it really hits home as it has such a believeble feel, and by 'hearing' the opinions of someone who has suffered the greatest impact of an illness the message is so much stronger.
I have to say i did wonder how they had put together the ad t make it say what they wanted etc. But it has a good balance of humour but serious facts to make a point about the actual issue.
You have to rate his family for supporting and consulting to this ad, cant have been easy for them viewing, its been amazing executed, to the point of being freaky. They've done it true bob style with humerous undertones, but conveying a very serious message. I think this would make people stand up and take notice.
For my dissertation I want to pursue charity advertising-specifically cancer charities and the tone of voice of this advert would be great to analyse further. Cleverly put together and really moving. Unusual to use 'humour' in such advertisements but it works with this specific example.
